Contract Summary

Realtime were appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to carry out the enabling works for the installation of a new roof over Number 1 Court at the impressive All England Lawn Tennis Club.

An interesting project to collaborate on with strict deadlines for the completion of phases areas. These areas had key miletsone dates due to the for the start of the tennis championship.

Realtime summary of work scope:

  • Enabling works which consisted of forming new openings to allow access of the piling rig to the basement.
  • Piling to the basement and attendance to the piling.
  • Forming new reinforced pile caps and beams foundation so the loads of the new roof structure could be transferred to the basement foundations.
  • Forming reinforced concrete super columns to support the new structural steel.
  • Bespoke steel column formers manufactured for the unique shape of the super columns.
  • Extensive structural alternations to the existing structure such as breaking out reinforced concrete existing slabs and walls.
  • Diversions of existing drainage and services.
  • Basement waterproofing installed to a Grade 3 specification combining a Type B & C system to BS 8103:2020.
  • Complex temporary sequence of installation of new structure whilst working within an existing structure.
  • Externals works package and reinstatement of all hard landscaping areas.
